Still with the joy business

I’m waiting for a very important phone call which may or may not even come. I won’t even know if I’m not getting a call at all for a few months, but I’m really hoping I get the call this week. To say that it has put me on edge is rather an understatement. At the same time, I’ve been actively seeking the joy in life so I can practice being happier, more present, surer of who I am. So for this post, I am simply going to list things that have brought me joy in the past week.

An unexpected dinner out with family after plans were cancelled last minute.

Daughter walking outside and saying, “Mmmm. Petrichor.”

Walking upstairs after working for several hours in the office to find two dogs excitedly wagging their tails at me just like I came home from work, because I did.

A little child in China blowing me kisses after a class and having her tell me she can’t wait to see me again soon.

On a super hot day, I took Daughter to get an ice cream treat. It was declared the best day ever. As she does.

When Husband had the decency not to say “I know” (which he absolutely could have) and instead just said, “I love you.”

Knowing I’m no longer the only one who looks like I do in the place where I live. It’s liberating.

The smile on Husband’s face when he finally got into the pool after being extremely hot and overwhelmed at work for several days. He refused to get out, even for snow cones.

That’s the joy I found in the past several days. It was everywhere I looked and I’m willing to bet you’re going to find a ton of it, too.
