Is laughter really the best medicine? No. Of course it isn’t. If I relied on only laughter I would die. But, it sure can help. Laughter makes the slow times faster. Even when it hurts, it takes a little of the pain away. Laughter is all I have to make it through some cancerous days. Husband has said some of the funniest things he’s ever said to me in the past few months. Friends have cracked me up intentionally with jokes like the one above, or unintentionally with little, timid requests of “is it ok to look?” before breaking very intense eye contact.
Today I will laugh at myself, I will smile at the joys of life, and I will believe in it as medicine.
